I went to Tokyo Immigration Office today March 16 Wednesday.
The place was so crowded and had a long line to get re-entry visa.
Here is some advice from me for foreigners who need to get re-entry visa at the Tokyo Immigration Office in Shinagawa.
(1) You should be there before 9 AM in morning as many people is expected to come as well.
(2) Re-entry visas which issued this time is not multiple but single only.
(3) Once they receive your application before 4PM, they will work to issue the re-entry visa by mid-night.
(4) On the way back to JR Shinagawa Sta, there will be a long line to wait for the bus. I recommend you to walk to Konan-Ohashi bus-stop (located under Konan-Ohashi Bridge. 2min walk back on same way) And then, you will be able to get a seat.
(5) Besides Shinagawa office, there are many branches nearby Tokyo. Please make sure that you go to the correct immigration office
(6) To save time, please buy the re-entry application STAMP available at the local post-office. Its not a normal stamp, its called shunyuinshi-収入印紙. If you are applying for single entry its 3000 yen and if you are applying for multiple entry then its 6000 yen. The forms for the application can be downloaded at the immigration website.
